Joulupukki – Team Santa | Holy Night

Joulupukki, the legendary Yule Goat of Finnish Christmas tradition, joins Team Santa in Holy Night: Jesus Christ vs Santa Claus, bringing an ancient and mysterious presence to this extraordinary festive confrontation.

Long before the modern image of Santa Claus became popular in Finland, Christmas traditions featured the Joulupukki, a figure associated with the Yule Goat. Originally depicted as a horned visitor dressed in animal skins, this folkloric character gradually evolved into the Finnish version of Santa Claus. This miniature draws inspiration from those older traditions, presenting Joulupukki as a formidable goat-like wanderer.

The sculpture features a powerful humanoid body with shaggy goat legs, cloven hooves and a striking horned head. His long, tangled beard and heavy fur give him a wild appearance, while his weathered clothing, ropes, pouches and rustic accessories suggest a creature accustomed to travelling through harsh winter landscapes.

In one hand he carries a tall, twisted wooden staff, while the other holds a bundle of small objects. His calm but imposing stance contrasts with his monstrous features, creating a character that feels both ancient and enigmatic.

With its detailed textures, distinctive silhouette and strong connection to Nordic Christmas folklore, Joulupukki is a fascinating addition to Team Santa and the Holy Night collection, particularly for collectors and miniature painters who appreciate mythological creatures and dark fantasy interpretations of traditional legends.
